I consider my specialty intelligent movement practices. Presently, I offer in-person individualized GYROTONIC®️mind/body conditioning practice as well as virtual spine mobility sessions. I also specialize in ballet technique for beginning adults.
As a young, competitive figure skater, I found my passion: momentum. Performing with contemporary dance company,Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance, studying with contemporary classical and jazz dance legends and earning a Master of Fine Arts degree at NYU, I embarked early on in a mission to understand movement in many forms. I have choreographed, studied, trained and taught in many disciplines, loving all levels of body artistry--all ages, and all stages. I love creative projects that focus on collaborative process and in turn elicit thoughtful little gems of discovery.

I love going to Gyrotonic classes with Karen! Its the first time in my life that I have continuity and joy of going to an excercise class. It helpes me a lot to become aware of my body, to take better care of it and to loose weight. Combining Gyrotonic and a diet based on meat, grains and vegetables, I lost 36 pounds in one year. I was born with hip and neck problems and Karen gives me specific excersices to strengthen them and it really helps me to feel better. Karen is very patient and explains things very well. Karen is very knowledgeable about her craft and has the skill to pass that knowledge on to her students. The Movement Center is an amazing space to work in.
Dance Studio is refreshing, on the second floor with windows that look out on the ocean. The equipment is diverse and supports the training provided by the skilled trainer. I take private lessons and Karen ensures that we are not overextending to result in muscle pulls. The stretching we do enhances my strength for daily life and the ballet classes i take.
I recommend an introductory package of 3 private sessions for students to familiarize themselves with the practice.
I hold an MFA in dance from NYU as well as certifications in the GYROTONIC®️ methodology.
