Coach Nick is dope. He not only teaches you how to box but also how to perform better physically. He does both individual and group lessons on all kinds of martial arts so def check him out if you’re in the Oakland area.

In just a couple of months, Bravo Zulu has become like a second home to me. A sweaty, hardcore home.
After a long stretch of being fairly inactive and unable to find a martial art that I really enjoyed, my partner found Bravo Zulu and immediately told me to give them a call. I was nervous, since I was out of shape and coming from a karate background. Plus, Im always wary of gyms and the macho jock culture.
I was so surprised. Nick and David were incredibly welcoming and were so helpful to me as a beginner, giving me constructive critiques while also being very encouraging. Theyre professional, enthusiastic, and just all around good people.
In the classes, there is a wide diversity of people and levels of experience, so I felt totally comfortable as a beginner. As a woman, I was so happy to see that there are a lot of other women in gym! They have classes that are all genders and also exclusively for women, though instead of being patronizing like some places can be towards women, it is incredibly empowering.
Overall, I cant say enough about this gym. Nick and David always make sure to give you a great workout while also teaching you the skills to become a good fighter. When you join, you join a gym and a community. Im so grateful to have found this incredible place, as its changed my life and made me a happier, more confident person.

I like the size of the gym, it isnt too big but its not to small. All the coaches are very nice, kind, patient and very professional! They take the time too make sure you are learning everything correctly and they do not judge or discriminate. I feel welcomed and comfortable here as a woman and i feel like i am definitely getting my moneys worth!

    Frequently asked questions

We start out slow working on basic movements (jabs, cross, hooks & foot work).  Once we have a basic understanding of movement and balance we pick up the pace.  Some bag work and focus mitts or Thai pads.
