Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When a client reaches out to me I start by asking what the client is looking for overall and what goals they would like to reach. After we go over the details of what theyre looking for I set up a one on one session to see where the client is at from there. I will start by doing different assessments, like your body fat analysis, heart rate, measurements, and several different functional movement screening tests, The first few sessions may be intimidating, but I promise I'll walk and guide you through every process.

How did you get started teaching?
When I wrestled a lot of the guys on my team would ask me how to do specific moves. From there I ended up being a natural leader. During my time in the army I learned how to groom my leadership skills, started watching the basic specific details of fighting, and grappling. With the knowledge I was able to gain I started passing it on to others and helping them learn different fighting skills. I first started training people while I was over in Afghanistan in the military. People would ask me for different training tips and eventually I started helping them with training regiments. I started teaching people the basics for fighting when I worked at Title boxing club.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with different types of students. I have worked with kids, young adults, older adults, people with anger problems, people who are impatient, people who get frustrated, people who didn't know how to throw a punch, etc. You have to learn to work with different types to become a better teacher.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My most fondest memory is helping my wife reach her target weight. My wife was around 185 lbs in 2015. By November of 2016 she was already down to 150 lbs. By August 2017 she fought her first amateur fight at 125 lbs. Helping her get through those rough moments, and being there to see her reach the target weight when nobody told her it was possible was just unbelieveable. She proved a lot of people wrong (including me), but I'm so proud of her.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Whether you go to me or the next trainer, please do your research on that trainer. Not everybody you meet really knows how to fight. Some people will teach you bad form and technique just because they're looking for a quick pay day. Please make sure you're getting what you paid for. I paid for private lessons and found out the hard way that some coaches aren't who they always say they are. Don't let that happen to you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When it comes to health/fitness, nutrition, fighting and grappling no question is to broad. You should be able to ask any question to your trainer without hesitation, I will be direct as possible and if I don't have the answer I promise I will get back to you after that session within the same day or the next day.
