Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typicallly we prefer to give the client a short 10 min phone call to hear about their goals. During that phone call we typically get a fairly detailed background to have a better understanding where the client is coming from and their motivations to improve! Then we set up a physical evaluation and acclimation session. Then we devise a plan for that clients specific goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I personally am a former professional and collegiate athlete and hold Nsca, acsm, nasm certifications. I hold two bachelors degrees in Exercise physiology and another in Biology and have worked for St. Mary's health systems in Indiana and multiple medical offices as a contractor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We use a monthly rate pricing system that is dependent on number of sessions per week and either 40 or a 60 min session.
How did you get started teaching?
My sister in law wanted to lose weight we dropped 30 lbs in just over 90 days off her. She encouraged me to start a business and the rest is history !
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with athletes to general weight loss to knee replacements and spinal cord injuries! My key is i figure out what is needed first then approach the wants!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a client who had a pretty serious spinal injury which left him with the inability to walk for a bit. He was just 15 and now after 3 months post therapy he can run and join his brothers on hikes, soccer, swimming etc His
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is always this when selecting an instructor for something specific in any field, ask about their experience! Ask them about results and specifics it's important. Making sure the person is the right fit for your needs is important. You are the interviewer for the job not the other way around.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
First your commitment level both time and financially. Second are the goals you have in mind realistic and obtainable. Lastly what type of instruction do you prefer strict, casual, visual, methodical etc
