Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When a new student comes in for the first meeting, I start with a health and wellness consultation. During this informal conversation, we discuss the student’s health and fitness goals he or she is looking to achieve as a result of working with me, and when we decide whether or not we’ll make a great team, we determine our starting strategy.
Upon starting to plan our initial game plan, the student fills out a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire, which includes, but is not limited to, my waiver of liability, payment method, lifestyle interview, any initial measurements, as well as his or her fitness baselines. I believe it is important to track where the student starts so we can see all the progress made as we work together to reach those goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Initially, I went to school and graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA Architecture Studies.
After a while, I decided to switch gears and pursue a career in the fitness world. From there, I have obtained certifications both as an NSCA Certified Stength & Conditioning Specialist, as well as an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The current standard price is $70 for a one hour session in our facility.
If you find that you work better in your own in-home gym, no problem! My hourly rate for in-home sessions is $100 for one hour.
Rates for corporate fitness and group fitness events vary based on size and facility requirements. Please contact me for further details.
How did you get started teaching?
After graduating from college with my BA in landscape architecture, I found myself more than 50 pounds heavier than I was at graduation. I knew something needed to change. In order to make that change, I started learning about a healthier lifestyle, and started resistance training for my workout regimen. I fully shed the lifestyle that was causing me to be overweight and over stressed. I learned to make healthier nutrition choices, instead of filling myself up with too much poor quality foods that weren’t nourishing my body. While making this change for myself, I found my calling to help others make healthy lifestyle changes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a very wide variety of students, ranging from young kids to senior citizens. I firmly believe that movement is important in life, and I strive to find the best functional movements to best achieve the goal of each individual I train.
