Velocity Rx is an instructional program for pitchers and catchers. Velocity RX's teaching philosophy and methods are based on the application of anatomy, kinesiology, and movement science in order to produce the greatest amount of velocity and accuracy through the baseball while limiting the chance of injury. Velocity RX was created by Dr. Kevin J. McGovern, PT, CSCS. Dr. McGovern has been involved in the rehabilitation of 100's of pitchers and catchers from Little League to the Pro's. Dr. McGovern deleivered huge results re-training injured pitchers and catchers to throw again after having major surgery AND saving many athletes from surgery with mechanical changes and corrective exercise. The purpose for the creation of Velocity RX was to stop injuries from ever occuring, to teach mechanics which limits the stress on the arm, and most importantly, to educate the baseball public on the importance of looking at pitching from a medical perspective. Velocity RX simply works. It works because the entire body is evaluated even before one pitch is thrown to look for any and all body movements that may cause potential injury. The instruction and corrective exercise will give the body the coordinated tools to throw harder and more accurate with less shoulder and elbow stress. Students will increase their velocity at least 3-5 MPH but more importantly, will be able to throw multiple strike from 30 feet....BLINDFOLDED! At the end of the day, if you can throw 3 pitches for strikes to all 4 quadrants of the plate, you will be highly successful at any level.
I enjoy Teaching the anatomy and kinesiology of pitching. I think every student needs to know how their body is supposed to move and understand those basic principles in order to be able to perform a sport.
Pitching is one of those sports where a precise sequence of events needs to occur in order to produce Velocity and limit the chance of injury.

Dr Kevin helped my mother after she hurt herself shoving last winter. My mother had pain in her chest & her arm. Dr. kevin came to the house. He evaluated my mother. Adjusted her back. With in a hour my mother was feeling better. Then he gave my mother a few exercises to help strengthen her back. He followed up 2 more time with a home visit. Dr. kevin was the best choice I made. Rather than sitting in the ER for hours, having a MRI then being recommended to PT. I called Dr. K! Highly recommend him!
Dr. Kevin’s knowledge of biomechanics and anatomy was essential to getting my 15 year old pain free. In one visit he got her from walking with a crutch to walking normally. He taught her the correct exercises AND the correct sequence in which to do them to maximize her progress. His easygoing but tough persona challenged her to perform at her best , while at the same time , he never talked down to her and always made sure she understood the WHY of each exercise. I perform a full evaluation of how the student moves. Proper movement must take place before any sport can truly be learned or played safely.
I then evaluate how the student throws.
After the evaluation, I sit with the student and go over my findings. Once in agreement with what the issues are and what the studenst goals are, we make a plan of action to reach those goals.
