Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Starting with a phone conversation or email feed really helps.
Ulitmately meeting for a workout once goals and all injuries are clearly defined is the best way to get started.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a licensed Physical Therapist, a Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM), and have 20 years experience in training clients of all ages with injuries, for injury prevention and sports performence, pre surgery and post surical workouts, and basic training as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer an introductory package. Prices are determined by the time slot availablity, distance to client, or in Studio workouts are all considered. My base rate is $65 for the first 10 sessions for in studio or home training within 10 miles of the studio.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a "star" athlete in High School. I blew my first ACL when I was 15 in a Varsity basketball game. I wanted to understand why that happened to me when I was so fit, and to learn how to prevent that and other injuries in the general population.
What types of students have you worked with?
Literally all types, from star athletes to their grandma.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I loved biking with my boyfriend in Hopkinton State park on the first day of spring this year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at their resume, and Yelp reviews.
If you have good chemistry, and you get great results, that's a great match.
It should be easier, more fun, and you should get great results with a good coach. You should not feel sick, injured, or defeated ever.
I'm a firm believer in positive, science based coaching. It works tremendously well on a motivated client, and especially for those clients who need a nudge.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be realistic about your goals. Are you food tracking? Are you exercise tracking? Is your fitness routine strong enough to get you to your goals. This is science, let me know your goals, and I can teach you how to attain them with good hard work, and a great and safe program.
