What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I run a full service studio, and have remote and local athletes and clients. I accept only serious inquiries. If any individual uses and only selects the default anwers without putting any thought into what they really desire, it shows their level of readiness and committment. I will not answer request with default answers.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) with a bachelors degree in dietetics and master's degree in health communication. I am an Elite Trainer with the International Sports Science Association (ISSA) with four certifications from them, and a Certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

I am also a USA track field coach, USA Triathlon and Ironman Certified Coach. My fitness certifications can be verified through IDEA Fit.  I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, and taught and developed martial arts instructors and trainers.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My prices can be found at:

They can also be booked through the MindBody App.

How did you get started teaching?

During my time in the Marine Corps I became a martial arts instructor trainer and Marine Corps Drill Instructor. Fitness and nutrition was something I took to quickly. I owned and operated a CrossFit gym in Virginia and worked with athletes and services members before deploying overseas in 2012. While overseas I trained fitness to large groups, as well as martial arts in small and large groups. When I moved to California I traveled globally teaching martial arts.

Now that I am retired, I train and work with individuals and groups in Illinois and East-St. Louis area.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have taught and trained fitness and nutrition for close to 20 years. I've trained military service members, military police, police officers, firefighters, mothers, fathers, and children. I've worked with endurance athletes, college athletes, and youth athletes. I've taught young adults to adults in their 70s with various clinical conditions. Each program is individually crafted using evidence-based science and proven practices for the individual needs of the client.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I had the privilege of working with a business woman who ran many races and Tough Mudders per year. She had also completed a few World's Toughest Mudders. I worked with her for several months as her nutritionist helping her eat to reach her training and performance goals while traveling frequently. I also personally crossed the finish line with her during World's Toughest Mudder, where she completed 50 miles of racing over 24-hours with more energy than she had in previous years.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure the individual has college level education and certifications in their area of expertise.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Know what you're hoping to achieve. It doesn't has to be specific or tangible, but have an idea. Write down some ideas and thoughts, and let them flow onto the paper. When you speak with the professional feel free to open up and share with them your concerns, needs, wants, and goals. The more you can share, the better the professional can help you achieve.
