Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We are able to indentify mechanical and technical issues within the fist five minutes of our initial evaluation. Our focus is building a relationship with each individual that allows them to trust the processes and work towards their goals. Many first time students come with bad habits that need to be changed. We will discuss the findings of our initial observations with both the athlete and parent to discuss the best training curriculum. Great ballplayers are not built in one lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All instructors have a minimum of 200 training hours and shadow master instructors before they are permitted to teach solo.
All instructors have played either professional baseball/softball or at the college level. MLB scouts, MLB players, and MLB coaches are included in both the professional staff and advisory board. We pride ourselves on a well rounded staff that includes trainers with degrees in secondary education and exercise science. Our professional training staff includes expertise in all areas of the game.

How did you get started teaching?
Roundtripper Academy Inc. was founded in 1993 to help elevate the game of baseball in central Indiana. We have helped hundreds of ballplayers over the past 24 years reach their goal of playing in college and have 38 players who went on to play professionally. Including one National League MLB All-Star. We are also proud of our first professional female softball player who has recently returned to teach at the facility.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all ages starting with tiny tots, developmental, elite, professional, and adults. We have trained teeball to professional players and gear the classes acordingly.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The Chicago Cubs Winning the World Series!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Both playing and treaching experience are important. Not all great players make great teachers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be open to discuss your strengths and weeknesses as a player. Have realistic goals- your goals should be based on your current skill level and be measurable in one off-season.
