At Ravenwood we are both a kid friendly barn and a professional riding academy able to offer training for athletes for all levels of riding ages 2 and up. The head trainer Dawn Mahalik is a professional dressage/jumping rider and coach. Dawn @ 35yrs has competed successfully is hunter, jumpers, Eventing, and dressage. She still currently trains with many top trainers in the country striving to reach her own personal riding goals. Ravenwood is also a 501c non profit. All of our income is filtered back into our riding program for underprivileged and traumatized children who can benifit from working and riding on the farm. I have been trainer of the year multiple times for Gloucester county, Students of mine have won over 80 grand and reserve state titles through 4h. Many of my students excel in both dressage and jumping a true accomplishment for any rider.
I love working with the horses they have always been a part of my life. Now I get to teach what I have learned growing up in this industry to everyone else. Seeing the unconditional love ❤️ horses and their riders share.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We train from the ground up handling, horsmanship, and grooming. Every rider learns everything they need to know to be a self suffient rider. They learn a very European based riding style backround of classical dressage that at the Olympic level todsy is applied to not onmy dressage but jumping, eventing training as well. We are leaning how to properly train the horse so they can be their strongest self and injury free.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A Degree in animal science from Delaware Val University. I have since added hours and hours of research into continuing my own riding education with clinics and my own lessons I still take, as I am coached to reach my own goals as well. I also was raised on a large horse equestrian farm so I have been riding since I was 2 and a 1/2 !!

Full Hr Private $60 for Dawn , $50 for Phae my working student. $30 1/2 hr , $45 grp ride, $30 practice ride, $25 monthly locker rental, $200 1/2 lease (2 rides , lockers, and no medical responsibilities) If they want to show $70 includes trailer fee and horse rental.
How did you get started teaching?
My first student was when I was in 7th or 8th grade I taught my science teachers daughter who suffered from cerebral palsy . Her horse lessons helped strengthen and loosen her body so well she was always to avoid two surgeries. I had had another teachers student who loved riding and was lessoning from me.
