About
Albert Young is the current Running Backs Coach at Wilkes University & Owner of AY Sports Performance, and widely regarded as one of the best football players in New Jersey history. Named the South Jersey Player of the Decade by The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2009, Albert finished his career at Moorestown High School as South Jersey’s all-time leading rusher (5,411 yds.) He was also the first player in the region to run for more than 2,000 yards in a season twice.
Albert continued his dominance at the running back position while earning his bachelor’s degree in Health & Sports Science at the University of Iowa. He became just the third player in Iowa history to rush for more than 3,000 yards, and remains the Hawkeye’s third all-time leading rusher. In 2005, he was named Iowa's Most Valuable Player on offense, and was one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award— an award of national prestige, honoring the top running back in all of college football. Previous winners include Reggie Bush, Melvin Gordon and LaDanian Tomlinson.
In 2007, Albert fulfilled a lifelong dream and went on to play four years in the NFL, mostly for the Minnesota Vikings and running backs coach, Eric Bienemy— current offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Post NFL, Albert served as an offensive assistant at the University of Colorado— also under Bienemy’s tutelage— and strength & conditioning coach for the University of Pittsburgh Football team.
