Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step is to have a conversation to determine goals, preferred activities, and how much time the new student has for the process. It is important to determine if we are a good fit.
Based on that information, we will set up a schedule and select the appropriate path to achieve the goals. I focus on the basics first to reset the foundation for both fitness and lifestyle habits and we build from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certified Personal Fitness Trainer: ACE since 2010
Therapeutic, Orthopedic, Senior Fitness programming certificate
Level One Corrective Exercise Specialist, The BioMechanics Method
Health Coach, Institiute for Integrative Nutrition
Health and Nutritional Coach, Precision Nutrition
Cancer Exercise Specialist, Cancer Exercise Training Institute
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I customize programming to the individual and therefore the pricing will vary based on the program selected.
How did you get started teaching?
Several years ago, I experienced a traumatic event which affected my ability to manage the stress of "normal" life events and experiences. I began to have panic attacks due to my need to simply "soldier on" with life. What I didn't know at the time was that I was damaging my health, especially my nervous system by not managing that normal stress associated with the job I loved doing at the time and life in general.
As I began to heal my body through these improved practices, I realized that one day I wanted to help others manage stress and keep their bodies healthy so they might never experience anxiety and panic attacks or at least learn how to minimize them.
What types of students have you worked with?
Busy professionals
Students with chronic health conditions (for example: asthma, pre-diabetes, diabetes)
Students with anxiety/PTSD
Students returning from illness, injury, surgery
Students who are cancer survivors
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask a lot of questions about how they work with their clients to be sure they are the right fit for YOU. A teacher/coach should meet the client where they are and really listen to what the client wants. Programming is not about the coach's goals. It's about the student.
