Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Your first session is free. Before getting started, we will chat over the phone, Skype, or via email to discuss your goals, any restrictions, previous injuries, or health conditions I need to be aware of, and cover any questions you may have regarding how my process works. If we agree we may be a good fit for each other we will set-up the free trial session. In this session, I will take you through a workout, starting with a movement screen, warm-up, the actual workout, and cool down. After our trial session, we will discuss how you felt it went and talk about whether you would like to move forward.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Here are some quick dos and don’ts when it comes to hiring a personal trainer: ● DON’T hire based solely on price (more on that below!) ● DO get referrals and do pay attention to reviews, testimonials, and word-of-mouth ● DON’T hire the first trainer recommended by a gym or private studio simply because it’s the easiest choice ● DO ask lots of questions. And most importantly… ● DO listen to your gut! Ultimately, you want to hire a personal trainer who: ● Is experienced helping people like you get the results you’re after ● Is a good fit personality-wise ● Will push you and challenge you to be your best, even when you “don’t feel like it” ● Will be there for you when you need it most and hold you accountable ● Truly cares about you ● Provides a good value for their time and expertise ● Practices what they preach
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What are your goals and does your potential trainer’s experience and background match these goals? 2. What are their qualifications (certifications, education, years of experience, background, etc.)? Do they continually invest their own time and money into ongoing education in order to deliver the best service and the most up-to-date information to their clients? 3. Can you validate that they have actually helped other people get results besides themselves? Do they have video testimonials, before and after photos, written testimonials with clients faces and names, screenshots from happy clients posting on social media, and/or real client reviews posted on reputable review sites such as Yelp or Google Reviews? 4. Do you feel like their personality is a good fit with your personality? Will they be able to motivate you? 5. Do they train where you want to train? 6. Are they available at the times you want to train? What is their cancellation policy? 7. What services do they offer as part of their program? Nutrition coaching? Online coaching? Progress evaluations? 8. And finally, how much does it cost? Remember that your health is an investment, not an expense. After carefully considering factors 1 through 7 above, are you confident that this person is the right fit for you and can get you your desired result? Are you willing to invest in yourself in order to look and feel your best?
