    Christine J.

My name is Christine and I am a Pilate instructor. Almost a year ago, I gave birth to a
beautiful girl (Alexadra). I was always in great shape since I have been practicing and
teaching Pilate for almost 10 years now. When it comes to having a great physique, I am
always very critical of my own. During and after pregnancy, I just can’t seem to shake off
that extra 8 pounds on me. My doctor had explained that lots of times, our body changes
and may not always go back to the way it was before pregnancy. Again, being critical of
myself, I just refuse to believe that and determine that I was going to get my great shape
back. I know that I sound very condescending, but I am writing this for the purpose of
proving a point and give a honest review of my trainer. Anyway, I decided to hire my
trainer after doing some homework and research. At first, I didn’t tell my trainer what I
do (as a Pilate instructor). He was very patient and knowledgeable and went over our
training program designed solely for me based on my goals. While my trainer was and
still is very encouraging and always motivated me to challenge myself as my training
progressed, in order to reaching my ultimate goal which is to get my great shape back,
but time to time, he also reminded me that I am a mother and has a family to look after
and take care of now as my beautiful girl grows up, so it is perfectly alright and very
natural that my priority would and should change in the near future. Basically, he is
trying to explain (in a nice way of course) that it is okay that if I won’t get my great shape
back as my focus and priority in life will change now, but as long as I try my best to stay
healthy and fit as a lifestyle. My opinion, my trainer is not only a great trainer with great
knowledge (not just about training, but really understand anatomy and believe me,
coming from a Pilate instructor), he is also very inspirational in a sense that he would
patiently explain and differentiate between a perfect and a real world scenario. He is
absolutely right, after almost 6 months of training with my trainer later (between taking
care of my daughter, family, running my classes and my own training, it is not easy), I
was still able to almost get most of that 8 pounds off. Same time, I feel great, healthy,
strong and lots of energy. I am still with my trainer and I definitely recommend him.

    Allen A.

My name Allen and I am 65 years old. I always had poor posture which not only led to shoulder problems but also bulging or herniated discs in my spines as well as chronic pain in my hips. Through my doctor’s referral and prescription, I would then go to Physical Therapy treatments whenever my shoulders, back/spines or hips are acting up. Although I felt better every time after my treatments are completed (usually, the prescribed Physical Therapy treatments last about a month or two), but it seemed the problems never completely go away. It was like an on-going cycle. My doctor then suggested that maybe I should consider hiring a Personal Trainer who is not only knowledgeable about fitness training but also has the knowledge of corrective exercises which treats muscle imbalances and dysfunctions due to poor posture or prior injuries, etc. He then recommended my trainer whom he also goes to. Two years later, I am still with my trainer. My doctor was right, not only my trainer was very knowledgeable but also very patient. First, we started with baby steps which I learned how to change my bad habits that led to poor posture, and slowly and continuously corrected my bad posture by strengthening the weak muscles while properly lengthening the tight muscles. Today, I can honestly say that not only my posture has significantly improved but I am also continuing working on getting stronger, building strengths and muscle tones. You are never too late or too old to continue to be healthier and stronger. I definitely and highly recommend my trainer whom has extensive knowledge and experience not only in fitness training for general populations or athletes, but also for people with chronic pains, muscle imbalances and dysfunctions due to poor posture or prior injuries. Thank you.

    John S.

Our son is 16 years old and very athletic. He plays competitive sports such as football, baseball, basketball and Lacrosse. However, he felt that he had reach plateau in his athletic abilities at times. We decided to hire a trainer who has Athletic Performance Enhancement knowledge and expertise. Within just under two months of consistent cardiovascular and strength conditioning designed specifically for our son, he is able to take his games to the next levels. Our opinions, his trainer is so knowledgeable that he always designs his protocols of trainings based on studies of physiologists, exercise scientists, etc., as he always remind our son that although it is very important to properly cardiovascular and strength conditioning, but it is just as important and still needs to continue practicing the drills and movements of any specific sport in order to be better at that particular sport. We definitely recommend our trainer.

    Ann

My name is Ann and I am a retired registered nurse. I had a rotator cuff tear years ago. Went to physical therapy for about 2 months and then started training with my trainer. My trainer continued to used corrective exercises to treat my rotator cuffs and poor postures. He is very patient and knowledgeable about body/anatomy. Always explained in details how our body, bones and muscles work, etc... 3 years later, I am still with my trainer. I would definitely recommend my trainer to anyone whos not only looking for a great trainer, but a trainer really knows what hes doing, so people like me had rotator cuff issues, poor postures, muscle imbalances and dysfunctions, etc... would improve and continue to improve physically, and not the other way around.

    Michelle G.

My name is Michelle and I am 45 years old. I had lost 20 pounds on a popular weight loss program but still was not happy with my results. So I began three times a week for an hour training each time with my trainer, then I realized that I was really out of shape even thought my weight was within the average of my height. My trainer is very patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. My workout program is created specifically for my ability and changes as I made progress or if I need to scale back. My trainer knows when to push me so I can move to the next level. I have learn to focus on how I feel and not just the number on the scale. I am stronger, healthier and proud of what I have accomplished.

    Frequently asked questions

Initial consultation and assessment - will first have customer fill out and go over a health history questionnaire including but not limited to past and present exercises, if any, as well discussing in details of daily diet, nutrition values and consumption, if any. Take some measurements to find out customer's current body composition (weight, body fat%, body water%, muscle mass, physique rating, resting metabolic rate, metabolic age, bone mass and visceral fat). Then move onto conducting some physical assessments.  Have an idea where the customer's current fitness level is ? (Overall assessments of stabilization, balance, endurance, strength, agility and power). Any overactive and/or underactive muscles, muscle imbalances and/or dysfunctions ? Due to poor posture or prior injuries, etc. ? Finally, with all the information, design a goal setting fitness program with healthy nutritional concept and idea. If customer needs specific meal plans due to medical reasons, I can also refer to a very good Registered Dietitian (RD) that I work with for years.

Nationally Accredited Cerified Personal Trainer with specialiaztion certifications such as Athletic Performance Enhancement for athletes looking for cardiovascular and strength conditioning trainings; and Corrective Exercise for people with muscle imbalances and dysfuctions due to poor postures and/or prior injuries.

Always fascinated with anatomy and how our body / muscle work and should work - biomechanics.

All ages from 12 to 90 years old.

Ask plenty of questions about their certifications and most importatntly, their training protoclos, philosophies, etc... Make sure they also understand body anatomy - have at least basic knowledge of how our organs, nerve systems, bones and muscles, etc... should work.

First, make sure they are cleared to workout/train by their medical professionals. What precisely are they looking for in training (be specific)? Do they have any medical condition that need to be addressed?  Do they have any muscle imbalances and dysfunctiions due to poor postures and/or prior injuries that need to be corrected first ? So the synergists would not dominate primary movers/muscles, etc...
