Personal training, as well as group fitness HIIT classes: cardio, strength, and endurance depending on the day. And of course rock climbing. I truly feel that as tools, yoga & meditation have the potential to really change lives. You have the ability to change your level of conciousness as well as your outlook on life. Teaching proper breathing techniques, gentle stretches, and techniques to help clear the mind, are all great ways to remain flexible throughout your life not just in your practice. I love that there is no pressure to have a perfect practice, because there is no ego in yoga. We are simply free to be who we are in that moment without expecation.
I do personal training with Colton and it is a great way to learn how to workout and get stronger. Colton is a great trainer and he makes the sessions hard but enjoyable while teaching me all about working out.
I love the community the most. I feel empowered working with others, and the people at latitude are all encouraging and enthusiastic. I do the HIIT workouts regularly and enjoy both the quality and variety of workouts, I also like the instructors. and the space. It is such a great environment- clean and bright, with nice decor. Additionally, I love that my son can climb while I am working out.
Such a fun workout environment! I am a beginner climber and the instructors were extremely helpful and made me feel comfortable and confident trying new techniques.
Latitude is such an amazing place! The owners and instructors are so personable and knowledgeable. They make sure your experience is great from start to finish... they were attentive to my needs and gave me great feedback! The physical gym is incredible too- clean, colorful, up to date, expansive.
First and foremost, I like to learn a little bit about the student in order to see if we are a good fit for them. We have so much to offer and such a wonderful community, but it has to be right for the student. So ideally we can have a phone call or an email or two to help determine if we can help out the student.
After that, I'd love to invite the student in to tour the facility- it's beautiful, meticulously clean, and in a gorgeous historic brick building. Then, if it's right, we'll get the student set up with exactly what they need, whether it's fitness, yoga, or rock climbing!
I have been practicing yoga for 3 years and have been teaching at Latitude Climbing & fitness for about a year now. I completed my 200 HR yoga teaching certifiation in August 2018 - with instruction from Rolf Gates. I have also worked in the medical field and continue to educate myself in anatomy & physiology, meditation, proper breathing techniques, and various techniques to help ease anxiety.
A private session allows you the opportunity to work closely with an instructor to discuss your mobility, goals, and to formulate a practice tailored to you. Each session is an hour long, and are $60.
When I was working in healthcare, I was looking for a natural way to help ease my anxiety & stress. I was reccommended transcendental meditation by the doctor I worked for, which was a lot harder than I imagined. I began reading more and more about meditation & yoga and the irrefutable positive affects it has on the mind and body. I ended up leaving my job, and began working at a yoga studio (where I was much happier) and a year later began my teacher training. Soon after completing my cerfitication, I began teaching at Latitude Climbing & Fitness!
All types, mostly beginner - intermediate!
I really enjoy the converstions I have with students after class, about their practice or their experience. In particular though, recently I had a someone share with me that they could now do wheel pose (a tricky backbend)! He was so excited to share the news, he had surprised himself and seeing him light up was so special. He must have inspired his friend because it didn't take long for him to try it out on the mat next to us, and succeed also! Moments like that where the excitement and love for the practice is shared, and we surprise ourselves.. those are the events I'm most fond of.
Have an open mind, each teacher and style of yoga is different. There is a bond to be built between student, teacher, and your practice so finding someone that speaks to you is important.
Make sure to bring up any injuries you have, so teachers can accomodate/make adjustments. What are you looking for in your yoga class? Are you showing up to ease the mind, or are you purely focused on stretching the body? What is your goal with your practice?
