Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first contact will be through a phone call in order to match you with our perfect trainer! First session, we will get together and discuss your fitness goals, injury history, interests/hobbies, limitations, etc. After that, we will go through a brief movement screening to check for any imbalances or limitations. I will put you through your first mini workout for 15 minutes, reflecting your goals and your body type. Lastly, we will get back together and talk about the plans for the future, what your workout program looks like and financial options.

How did you get started teaching?
I became a personal trainer by first volunteering as a children's martial arts coach teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai to kids 12 and under. That lead to adult martial arts classes and cardio kickboxing, as well as Women's Self Defense and Bootcamp classes. When I became pregnant, I started training people one-on-one and small groups in personal training sessions.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children (ages 3-12), adults as well as seniors (65+).
I have also traned many cliens with PCOS, ankle/leg injuries, spine injuries, diabetics, stroke survivors and breast cancer sutvivors.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was able to train one woman who was getting ready for a Navy PRT. She started off training with me at a 16+ minute mile and a half run time, 40 sit-ups and 12 pushups. After 6 weeks of training together, she was able to knock two minutes off of her run time and even passed the sit-up and pushup portion of the test! I later trained this same client for a police academy physical readiness test, adding in pullups to her workout routine and slimming down her run time to 1430 for a mile and a half!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire someone that you are compatible with and that will be able to get you to your goals effectively and truthfully. When hiring a trainer, you will need to trust them to give you "tough love" and to be humble enough to change a workout program if it isn't working. Chose a trainer that makes your workout fun and motivating!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? Do you have a timeline for this goal? What is your price range you are looking to stay in? How many days a week can you dedicate to working out? Is there anything that could get in the way of your fitness goals?
