What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When we meet a new client, we talk about their goals, expectations, nutrition, and previous health history. We put them through a series of tests to measure flexibility, strength, and functionality  Once we establish basic movements we start moving onto strength and endurance to see what you are capable of doing and establish a baseline. We aim for progression but to always teach and inform along the way

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physiology and Sports Movement from the University of Florida. I am certified since 2013 by one of the top Strength and Conditioning certifications any personal trainer or coach can have, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Every University in the country has to be certified through them, so it is a well established institution. I have also worked abroad in Kuwait and New Zealand as a Strength and Conditioning coach for various teams, colleges, and highly successful athletes as well as non-athletic individuals. I have had the opportunity to work with Florida Atlantic University in their strength and conditioning department to make athletes from all teams get better. I have also been able to work with Boomaritos Performace Systems working with NFL combine prospects as well as NFl, MLB, NBA players. I have always swam competitively and played water polo, so I come from a competitive sporting background. With all this previous training experience, it has allowed me to take many different well proven paths to success for any individuals goals, being fat loss, weight gain, endurance training, specific competitive sport training, nutrition, and so much more. We work with kids and the elderly; we understand many different problems an individual might have as well as pain tolerance and level of comfort.

How did you get started teaching?

I graduated from University with a Sports Science degree and immediately got my certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. I did an internship with Florida Atlantic University as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and fell in love with the profession. From here I took a Job in Kuwait as a Coach, later moved to New Zealand and taught kids sport and strength training and since then have focused my edcuation and knowledge at more general population. 50+

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with a wide variety of customers from a 10 year old aspiring football player to an 80 year old just trying to become more flexible and make everyday movements easier.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I currently work with the Yankees Minor A league team system part time based out of Tampa as a Performance Science Assistant.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Always check the personal trainer certification and actually go online and find more about them. You will be surprised how many trainers get their certifications overnight or within a week or a month and don't have insurance. Personal training and coaching deal with our complex bodies and not one is the same, it takes a while to understand the human body and what it requires for change.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Am I ready for change? Will it actually work? Does he have a knowledgeable background? Always always go with your gut.
