Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session I enjoy giving them a tour of our facility, and get to know them on a personal level. I like to go over their goals and what they are looking to accomplish because everyone is different. Depending on thier skill set we start working on achiving their goals. For striking students I like to do a light mitt session and get a good sweat in. For BJJ students, I go over the fundamentals first and see where my student is at.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associates degree in business administrations. I have been training and learning about Martial Arts for over 8 years consistantly. I have over 25 MMA fights and have cornered over 30 other fights and counting. I have been teaching a beginner muay-thai class for over 5 years at Gracie Tampa South. Coaching the Amatuer Fight Team for over a year, working with the fight team for several. I am also a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and have won many bjj matches and tournaments.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started coaching in 2012 because I was spedning all my time at the gym training anyways. I started teaching a beginner striking class. then moved on to eventually running the amatuer fight team. The past 6+ yeas teaching have been great I really enjoy working with students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure your treacher is experianced in what you are looking for. Alot of instructors dont practice what they preach. If you want to learn how to fight and your instructor has never been in a fight, how do they know if it will work?
