I have an original style. I have blended together foam rolling, body weight, free weights, core/stability conditioning, power yoga, cross fit, weight lifting, TRX, resistance bands, and barre (for my ladies). FMS (Functional Movement Screening) is the underlying assessment and guide for my alignment coaching. By getting you to do movements with quality (movement re-integration) ensures safety and guarantees you will receive workouts that are always effective and efficient.

I enjoy watching people “get it!” They begin feeling better in their bodies. They develop confidence using their bodies. They see positive changes, and they begin to appreciate exercise. Also, because I'm 56, I have more patience, understanding, and flexibility to “go with the flow” than most trainers. I know my technique works because I am in the best shape of my life. Whole Body includes mind and spirit!

Rick is not your typical trainer. He emphasizes correct form all the time, proper breathing in the exercise, and makes sure I feel safe doing his whole body routines. He definitely has passion and confidence in what he knows and shares this freely. His gym is small, but it surprisingly is set up for everything a big gym has. Rick has been consistent the past 3 months with good workouts, follow up evals, listening to my ideas, and always making sure I understand the exercise and that I'm doing them correctly. I highly recommend Whole Body Fitness by Rick.

  • Sean Kelley

His level of energy, and overall knowledge of his skills. Also, I've never had a trainer who also integrates the mind & spirit. Very cool.

  • Sean K.

His knowledge about personal fitness, technique, and how to involve the mind & spirit. I know I made the right choice.

How did you get started teaching?

I began training, at first, by helping my sister, who has struggled with her weight since a young girl. I have always been training myself, I enjoyed gymnastics , track , and swimming as a boy and continued into college, where I entered triathlons. While I was recovering from a crushed knee, I studied Gray Cook’s book Movement. My knee injury was due to years of sport specific training. This could have been avoided. And my sister needed encouragement, support, and advice on how to continue on her goal of losing 80 lbs.! It was so natural for me to help her because I could empathize with the struggle and realized I had been helping others. through out my life, to take fitness seriously. But have fun in the journey. I went to the Academy of Personal Training that year!

What types of students have you worked with?

All ! I like them all! I can help and Coach All.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Mona came to me at 62 after a hip replacement. She could walk stiffly and with some pain. She had great difficulty sitting in a chair without holding on to something. 6 mths : she walks with ease and wide stride , upright posture, And can get down on the floor ! Without any help and get back up Without any help...... she says “gracefully.” I Agree. Her doctor noticed right away.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Be sure they are stable, they are reliable, are disciplined, mature, have long term success. I have lived in the Fenway area of Boston for 25 years. I worked for the Boston Ballet for 8 years, coached 8 years for the top ranked college-prep high school Boston Latin, and received a Masters in Performance from Boston University.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

How important Is this? What is more important ? Is this worth your time and money? What will you gain from this? Who should I trust with this ?
