Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I have a general conversation to get a feel for thier expectations and to gain a sense of thier boxing knowledge. Second, I put them through an initial assessment drill to determine thier fitnes level, natural reflexes and overall movement. This drill will include basic calisthenics as well as some non contact boxing moves, ie. Proper stance, foot and hand placement, coordination, balance and most importantly, the ability to listen and follow instructions to the tee!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started training with my uncle in iur basement when I was four, and from that point on I have been a gym rat! My entire life revolves around boxing and fitness, and the desire to help it reach thier potential!
How did you get started teaching?
MY Passion is contagious! I've always been told that I would make a great trainer because of my love for the sport and my talents!
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly people who are interested in getting into shape, and some experienced fighters looking to improve different aspects of thier skillset
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that the teacher is legit! The best gauge is to pay attention to the amount if passion they display!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A student should expect an honest assessment of thier potential. Some things will be difficult to learn at first it's the coaches job to not leave any stone unturned and rush into anything. A student needs to ask what is expected of him/her!
