Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always begin with a complementary strategy session. This lets the student come to Emerge and get a feel for the facility. The student also gets to meet me and we can discuss more in depth the student’s goals and mindset. I also am able to put the student through basic assessments to determine if there are any injury or asymmetry issues that I need to be aware of in order to program properly. From there, the student and I can determine what the best program will be for him or her to achieve success.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Ph.D. in Anthropological Kinesiology and Anatomy which has given me a deep understanding of the human body, including its movement patterns, performance, and development. It also allows me to approach each student as an individual, avoiding cookie cutter workout programs that don’t fit everyone.
I am a professional athlete that is also a certified track and field coach, running coach, nutrition coach, USA Weightlifting coach, and speed and agility coach. I know what it is like to learn the craft of strength and conditioning and have coached and taught it for over five years to adults and youth athletes.
