A North Carolina native, Joan has been involved in sports and dance all her life. She is a former psychotherapist who practiced in Chicago and San Francisco, and an award-winning social justice documentary filmmaker. As a psychotherapist, Joan recognized the connection between movement and improved mental health, which led to her career in fitness. She is a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. Joan teaches formats including Boot Camp, Total Body Strength, Pilates-Fusion, Zumba, Aqua Zumba, Aqua Fitness and Barre. She is an ACE certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer. Joan specializes in functional training, core strength and healthy weight loss. Her upbeat sessions focus on improving strength, balance, stability, and overall health and well-being.
