Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A typical process for working with a new student is SAFETY FIRST! making sure me and my client both understand their physical and mental limitations and planning out how I can assist them with their personal goals along side creating a balanced program for them to increase those limitations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm 3-0 and an mma ametuer
2x submission grappling champion and all of my wins come from Submission.
I've been subbing black belts since I was a Blue, I've been fortunate to be a student under John Danaher, Gordon Ryan, Garry Tonon, 5time Golden Glove Champion Shemuel Pagan, Garry Stleger , and a handful of other very well Knowlegable Martial Artists.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is based depending on how many classes
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching my 2 younger sons in boxing and grappling starting them at age 2 and always understood that if you cant brake something down and teach a kid then you dont really know what youre talking about and I started teaching when higher belts started to approach me about techniques and that says a lot coming from The Renzo Gracie Academy with a ton of affialites throughtout the world, thats when i reconized I have the ability to teach and pass on this knowledge.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ive worked with Young kids, lawyers, doctors, the ederly and athletes from all over the world including law enforcement
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent event that I am fond of was submitting a grappling competitor with ease who is a BlackBelt (Seph Smith) and has sold hundreds of dvds based on his 50/50gaurd which is the same position I submitted him in after being told by my corner not to engage in that position due to his level of intelligence there, I wanted to prove to myself and the people witnessing that my I.Q for grappling is High even under pressure( submitted him in 3 min).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The Best advice I can give is make sure the instruction you are recieving is based around Safety first and look up and do your research on the instructor you look to hire based on experience level, who have they worked with? and do they have proof about their training? There are a lot of people out there who are just looking to take your money by showing you something they learned on youtube and havent actaully have been able to apply those techniques against a resisiting opponent in the training room or in competiton.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should have asked themselves what are their personal goals? short term and long term, why do they want to accomplish these goals? and ask themselves how dedicated will they be in persuit of bettering themselves.
