Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To begin, 1Up Sports Performance would like to invite the athlete and their parent into the gym to meet our trainers and to check out the facility. We would sit down and set goals for your athlete as well as set up a time for their first free training session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are proud to claim that all of our trainers are CSCS certified, which is the highest Sports Performance Certification provided by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In order to get this certification, a 4 year degree in Exercise Scinece or Kinesiology is required.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have several training options that range from $30-$75 an hour. Group session start at $30, semi private sessions for 2 to 4 people are $40-$45, and privates are $75. Discounts are sometimes offered based on the package of sessions that are bought and the number of times per week the athlete will be training.
What types of students have you worked with?
1UP Sports has worked with athletes of all ages ranging from five years old up to professional athletes in all sports.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important to know that all trainers would love to train athletes. Training athletes is much more favorable to most trainers than training adults. Trainers without the proper certification, expertise and knowledge can hurt an athlete just as much as they can help them. It is very common for former professional athletes to drop down and pick up training athletes after their professional days are over. Just because an athlete played a particular sport does not mean they are qualified to train an athlete. The CSCS certification requires a four year degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science. There are many other certifications out there that you can get online without any hands on training and classroom hours. All of 1UP's trainers are required to have a CSCS certification and that's what sets us apart.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Athletes should think about what their goals are and sit down with their trainer and discuss them. A qualified trainer can set a professional time line together with a plan, and help the athlete accomplish their goals and take their game to the NEXT LEVEL!
