About this pro

My personal training service stands out because my training philosophy is one that focuses on the individual, their goals, and their current level of fitness.  Everyone starts from somewhere and understanding an individual fully is a imperative to successs.  From a typical training session a client can expect progress, plain and simple.  Whether it’s learning how the body should properly move, a new exercise being performed, or just progress reaching toward their fitness and health goals.  While portions of our training session might seem as more of a learning experience, others are an all out push of hard work.  Sweat and tiredness after our session seems like a sign of a good workout, but just simply going slow, controlled, and learning a new movement is a step in the right direction.  I focus on motivating and pushing you to do and be the best you can to reach those goals.  Work will always be accomplished at a progressive pace and I make sure you get the most out of each session to reach those goals!

Exercise is something that everyone needs in order to live a healthy lifestyle.  There are many services or products offered by businesses and companies that don’t provide as much as an overall benefit to ones life that personal training does.  This is why I truly enjoy what I do by helping and offering my knowledge to anyone looking to change their life for the better.  "Health is wealth" is not just a saying, it's a lifestyle.  Whether its a seasoned athlete or an individual with no experience, I am here to fill that gap you are missing and fulfill your health and fitness goals.

The personal experience. No two people train the same. Jarvis Leaks is patient and prepared to make each training session challenging and build off the previous session. He encourages me to push harder and gets out of my comfort zone. I never felt judged only encouraged. Personal training with Jarvis and LEAKSFitness Personal Training is a game changer for me and a lifestyle I plan to stick with. In this last year I’ve lost weight, I’ve gotten stronger, sleep better and look forward to the next session.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

It is critical to thoroughly assess and collect as much information needed for a new client.  During our initial meeting we will discuss general health information, goals, and expectations.  It is vital to make sure a client is cleared by their doctor if serious health problems do exist.  Once our basic information meeting is through, we then move to our assessment day.  This day consists of measurements, functional movement screenings, and physical ability tests depending on the goal of the client.  Each assessment is first demonstrated by myself and then performed by the client so that they can understand proper functional movements involved in personal training.  Not only will they get a sense of the movements but this is where I take note of how they currently move and any limitations that may occur.  From there, I review their assessment and tests so that we can soon begin their personalized program.  No one is perfect and more than often someone needs to start out a session with certain stretches, mobility, or exercise modifications.  This is why our initial meetings are crucial which will then lead you to a proper personalized program.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Pricing for training may vary.  One popular option that I provide are packages.  For a package a client will get a set number of sessions (10,15,20) at the listed price.  Clients also have the option of paying per session with drop in prices along with a remote training pricing system. Along with remote training I provide flexibility programs as well. Each pricing system may vary depending on interest of the client, frequency, and location!

How did you get started teaching?

Growing up I’ve always participated in sports such as football, basketball, and wrestling.  As I grew older I fell in love with the game of football.  Football, just as any sport, is something where you have to prepare your body for the season and always I endured the grind and commitment that you had to take.  Not only does this better your performance but also resulted in better shape and health which are the biggest factors.  Sports and my love for fitness were big factors but another reason to why I started was because of my older brother.  My older brother Robert Leaks III is the owner and head trainer here at LEAKSFitness Personal Training.  He is someone who has always mentored and guided me in the correct fashion of how to take care of your body in the gym.  As he built his own image and knowledge in the fitness and health industry he influenced me to do the same.  He knew that I have a love for fitness and with my knowledge could better the lives of those who really need it.  Helping people day in and day out from college athletes to parents working a 9-5, he is someone I look up to, not just as a brother but as an excellent personal trainer.  Coming from being an athlete you would think training athletes is the go-to or reason I wanted to train but training someone who really needs it is another reason why I started teaching.  It's great building the performance of my basketball or football players but teaching my elderly and general population clients about proper ways to bend and hearing that their blood pressure recently went down recently is why I started and continue what I do!

What types of students have you worked with?

I provide experience working with general fitness clients, athletes from various levels/sports, cardiac rehad patients, also special populations such as the elderly and those with chronic health conditions.
