About
I have been a full-time elementary teacher for 26 years. My experience is mainly with upper elementary, but I have taught math to Kindergarten-ninth grade students. I am also experienced teaching English to ESL students and adults. I provide a safe learning environment where students learn confidence and hard work. During my teaching experience, I have also been able to teach beginning guitar, singing, and recorder lessons to classes of different ages.
Teaching and children are my passions, so whenever I get to incorporate both, I feel fulfilled. The greatest feeling is taking a difficult concept and breaking it down for a student to understand. The look of excitement over a student's face when they understand an otherwise difficult concept is exhilarating.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First of all, I try to build trust with the student by assessing their level and encouraging them in the process. With my experience in the classroom with students and parents, I work with the student to create goals. It is certainly a team effort.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
I have done one-on-one tutoring for over 20 years.
I am a STEM certified teacher from the National Institute for STEM Education.
