About this pro

Being fat-adapted is human beings' natural metabolic state before we invented the fake food that keeps us sick and tired.  It is also freedom.  Freedom from hunger, cravings, and eating schedules.  Its also freedom from the cycle of crash diets and intense exercise, both unsustainable,  followed by insidious weight gain and eventually giving up on your exercise program.  Becoming fat-adapted allows you to escape this frustrating cycle.

Fat-adaptation is teaching your body how to use fat for fuel instead of sugar.  This results in increased aerobic efficiency, less lactic acid during training and racing, less pain and inflammation, and fewer gut and digestion issues during racing and training.  This is an improvement in athletic performance for sure, but the benefits of being fat-adapted go far beyond athletics.  Using fat as your primary fuel, instead of sugar, also improves most health markers and many chronic conditions, including obesity, hypoglycemia, diabetes, hypertension, etc.

Breaking the cycle of carbohydrate dependency is simple, but its not easy.  Society is set up for carb dependency, and navigating the built-in traps and land mines can be difficult, if not impossible, for most people constrained by the demands of a career, a busy family, a training schedule, and other obligations.  This is where the fat-adapted coach can help.  I can help you navigate the cultural and social landscape with its built-in pitfalls that are waiting to foil your success.  If you'd like a free consultation, send me a note and lets talk.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Half hour to one hour consultation to figure out where you are now and where you want to go.  Then I develop a nutrition plan that we will go over thoroughly until you are comfortable.  Weekly contact to ensure you are getting the results you want, and tweaking to the nutrition plan as necessary.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Currently pursuing Primal Health Coach certification.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$200 for a three month plan, includes consultations and correspondence and ongoing evaluation.

How did you get started teaching?

I transformed myself, then my friends wanted me to teach them how to get the same results.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with everyone from young elite trail runners to elderly type 2 diabetics.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Helping a lifelong friend reverse his type 2 diabetes and save $800 on prescription meds was very rewarding.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find someone who you connect with and think you can learn from.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Try to find out if they are dogmatic and think there is a one-size-fits-all approach.  Typically those approaches do not work for everyone.
