Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
On the first day I sit down with the new client and go over their health and fitness history. At this point I will find out if the client has any injuries or history of back problems or knee issues. After this we will discuss nutrition , meal planning and training schedule. We will finish up with a 30 minute workout which is very important for me to see the clients strengths and weaknesses. This will help me in moving forward with the clients program.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in the fitness industry for 24 years. My experience in the fitness industry has been from Gym management to 15 years of personal training. I have been to 7 advanced training classes for Gold's gym and have worked with athletes from Brentwood Academy and Vanderbilt. Please look at my LinkedIn profile for a complete background in the fitness industry. You can also look at Pilkerton Training on thumbstack for high reviews from clients.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price for personal training and nutrition guidance is $55 for an hour session.
This includes daily email and messages to keep each client accountable.
12 sessions up front I charge $450 for personal training and nutrition guidance.
How did you get started teaching?
I started off as a personal trainer back when I was in college. While playing lacrosse , I would work with several athletes on the team on the side. I definitely had a passion for this. When I left North Carolina and came back to Nashville after my senior year I took a job as a floor trainer at local fitness club in Nashville. This was my first in club experience as a trainer. I would take all the new members through an introductory workout and through this I started getting clients.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners to advanced athletes from Brentwood Academy and Vanderbilt.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I think that working with one of my clients and helping him not only lose 50 pounds in 5 months but finding out recently that after several years he is finally off high blood pressure medicine definitely meant a great deal to me.
