About this pro

I have been a fitness expert and sports team coach for 18 years.  I am the former  strength and conditioning coach for JSU’s Men’s Basketball team, JSU’s Cheersleaders, and JSU’s women’s soccer team.  I have trained thousands of people for weight loss and for all sports.  I also instruct in the discipline of boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai! My first love!

My gym offers what most gyms do not: sport specific training for basketball, football, tennis, golf... all sports.  We also offer personal training, fitness bootcamps, boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai.  We also offer self defense classes and nutritional support and meal plans.  I have two 5,000 square studios.  Fitness and sports is my life!

    I have learned many important skills in boxing! I decided to take lessons for safety reasons and my long term interest in boxing. When I first started boxing training at The Compound Fitness Studios with Coach Tyrone, I did not know any type of punches or boxing techniques. He has taught me all about boxing from the ground up! I really enjoy my training sessions! He explains all of his answers to my questions clearly and very well! Coach Tyrone is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and knows exactly what is needed to accomplish each boxing technique and to build physical strength! I have Spastic Diplegia that affects the muscles in my hips and legs. I independently walk without assistance. My physical condition is no problem at all for Coach Tyrone! I have gained a great deal of muscles in my upper and lower body and shedded weight also! Additionally, I have better body and foot coordination that I now use in my everyday life! I highly recommend taking lessons with Coach Tyrone because you will never regret it and gain so much knowledge and strength!

FAQs


What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My process is easy.  Meet the student.  Then I talk to the student about his or her needs.  Next I will conduct a fitness assessment/fit test.  After that, I talk to the student about nutrition.  Lastly, I take that information and create a workout plan and meal plan for that student.  Then we train hard!


What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a group Fitness instructor, personal trainers, martial arts instructor, and strength & conditioning coach.  I hold B.S. from JSU and I am currently in a Masters Program studying Sports Science with a  concentration and strength and conditioning.  I am also studying for my CSCS.  Education never ends! 


How did you get started teaching?

I got started teaching when my football career ended.  Due to injury I could not play anymore, so I decided to get into coaching football players to stay close to the sport.  Then my skill just evolved based on my back ground with martial arts and football into weight loss, personal training, and sports specific training.  


What types of students have you worked with?

In their perspective sportsI work with students  ages 9 and up for all sports specific training, weight loss and strength & conditioning. I have worked with a few pro athletes and I have gotten many athletes to college In their perspective sports.
